Day 11 - A scene that makes you laugh

“Ah, Belikov,” said Abe, shaking Dimitri’s hand. “I’d been hoping we’d run into each other. I’d really like to get to know you better. Maybe we can set aside some time to talk, learn more about life, love, et cetera. Do you like to hunt? You seem like a hunting man. That’s what we should do sometime. I know a great spot in the woods. Far, far away. We could make a day of it. I’ve certainly got a lot of questions I’d like to ask you. A lot of things I’d like to tell you too.”

Day 10 - A scene that makes you sad

“This is your fault!” he yelled, fists clenched.

I cringed backward, eyes wide. “But he…he attacked me…”

“Yes. And Inna. A human! You let a human attack you.” He couldn’t keep the sneer from his voice. “You are weak. You are incapable of defending yourself - all because you refuse to be awakened!”

His voice was terrifying, and the look he gave me…well, it scared me almost more than Nathan had. Reaching forward, he jerked me up to my feet.

“If you had just been killed, it would have been your own fault,” he said. His fingers dug into my wrist as he shook me. “You have the chance for immortality, for incredible strength! And you’re too blind and stubborn to see it.”

Most people would go with the bridge scene(I have a graphic for that coming up) but I have feelings about this scene. Strigoi Dimitri finally snaps at Rose. He calls her weak and technically he isn’t wrong. Rose is a wreck, nothing of her former self and even scrambles to please him. He says a whole bunch of other nasty stuff and physically hurts her. Dhampir Dimitri would never do that. Also dhampir Dimitri would never call her weak because he sees her strength even if she doesn’t see it herself. But this isn’t Dimitri anymore, he is a monster and Rose finally realizes that she has to do it, she has to kill him.

Day 9 - A scene that makes you happy

Excitement surged through me. “Tell me, tell me you beat the crap out of him.”

His smile grew. “I did.”

“Wow.” I hadn’t thought Dimitri could be any cooler, but I was wrong. “You beat up your dad. I mean, that’s really horrible…what happened. But, wow. You really are a god.”

So many scenes from the books make me happy lol. I picked the scene where Dimitri bandages Rose’s hands in the first book(one of the first Rose and Dimitri moments that made me smile). It’s very long so I didn’t quote the whole scene but I love that scene because they were slowly opening up to each other. He massages her hands, tells her about his family and squeezes her hand back. Rose tries to clear up the Jesse incident and we see how much she wants Dimitri to believe her. Not that she has to try at all, because he does(and always will) and he sees her for what she truly is. And the scene ends with Dimitri touching Rose’s hair :)

Day 8 - Your favorite quote

I have too many favorite quotes from the books so I’m just gonna pick this one, a Rose one(in a separate post) and an Adrian one(in another separate post).

Day 7 - Your favorite chapter : Chapter 26, Shadow Kiss

“I don’t think what we did was wrong,” he said softly. “I’m glad we did it. If we could go back in time, I’d do it again.”

YES DIMITRI YES! This beautiful chapter, before it all came crashing down… :’(

Day 6 - Your least favorite book : Spirit Bound

Honestly, I REALLY don’t have a least favorite book. All the books are special in each way to me but if I really had to choose, it would be Spirit Bound. Like Rose, I was slightly bothered by the way Dimitri acted after Lissa brought him back to his dhampir state. I mean I understand his horror and guilt but at the same time I kind of don’t. The first time I read it I thought he was shadow-kissed or in some sort of weird love with Lissa lol. The only redeeming moment was at the very end of the book. But, Mr. Belikov has said(in Last Sacrifice) that if he could take it all back(how he acted) he would so there. ;)

Day 1 - Your favorite male character : Dimitri Belikov

Ahh Dimitri :) I never thought I would fall in love with a character who wears a cowboy duster, reads western novels and listens to the 80’s music. But I did, I mean how can you not? Imagine him whispering your name with a Russian accent. :D He may not be your typical YA bad boy with issues but he’s just every bit as intriguing. I love moments when he’s with Rose, he says stuff that makes me swoon but isn’t overly cheesy. And he’s a BADASS but that intensity doesn’t just apply to battle but love as well. The dude beat up his own Dad when he was 13 because he couldn’t stand what his Dad did to his Mom. He’s protective over the ones he love but he isn’t a control freak like: No, you can’t do that. It’s too dangerous. Even as a Strigoi, I could never really hate him. In fact I think it made him hotter lol because he wasn’t so much in check. You know I was just kidding about the last part right?
